Probabilistic Safety Assessment and Reliability Engineering: Reactor Safety and Incomplete Information
نویسنده
چکیده
The protection-system of GEN III+ reactors partially relies on self-powered neutron detectors (SPNDs), in-core devices measuring the neutron flux. The goal of this paper is to estimate the robustness and reliability of those detectors for surveillance purposes, using mathematical models. The results of research might serve as the basis for decision-making regarding future development and amelioration of the system.

Safety assessment of offshore structure
Reliability of a system is the probability that it will function as intended for the required period of time. The opposite of reliability is failure probability per unit time or over time, such as a life cycle. Following a review of existing reliability codes and approaches, comprehensive approaches to assess the reliability of offshore structures are described, including probabilistic analysis...
متن کاملRisk Analysis of Operating Room Using the Fuzzy Bayesian Network Model
To enhance Patient’s safety, we need effective methods for risk management. This work aims to propose an integrated approach to risk management for a hospital system. To improve patient’s safety, we should develop flexible methods where different aspects of risk and type of information are taken into consideration. This paper proposes a fuzzy Bayesian network to model and analyze risk in the op...

______________________________________________________________________________ Abstract: Probabilistic safety requirements currently formulated or proposed for space systems, nuclear reactor systems, nuclear weapon systems, and other types of systems that have a low probability potential for high consequence accidents depend on showing that the probability of such accidents is below a specified...
متن کاملProbabilistic Assessment of Pseudo-Static Design of Gravity-Type Quay Walls
Failure of the quay walls due to earthquakes results in severe economic loss. Because of hazards threatening such inexpensive nodes of national and international transportation networks, seismic design of quay walls is still an evolving topic in marine structural engineering. This study investigates the sensitivity of the gravity-type quay wall stability respect to uncertain soil and seismic pr...
متن کاملProbabilistic design: The future of rock engineering
A brief background to the development of the rock engineering design process is given, showing that since the development of the science of mathematics, deterministic methods have been used to perform various calculations. The variability of rock properties and support characteristics have always been known. However, they were not explicitly used in design but compensated for by the use of a sa...
